ξP. paniculatum L. ξPlant c. 75 cm. Leaf-sheath with long, tubercle-based hairs, especially near margin. Collar hairs long, tubercle-based. Leaf-blade c. 20 × 20 mm, with scattered hairs. Culm nodes densely villous. Panicle pyramidal, 12 cm; racemes c. 30, very slender, bearing numerous, short-pedicelled, orbicular, pubescent spikelets c. 1.5 mm. A Central American sp. once collected from Auckland City, Morningside A. E. Esler 8.6.1986 (AK 174172, duplicate CHR 421175).
