Var. arborescens

Var. arborescens (W. R.B. Oliver) Allan comb. nov. 

B. arborescens W. R. B. Oliver in Rec. Auck. Inst. Mus. 3, 1948, 236.

Type: A, "G. T. S. Baylis, Dec. 1st, 1945".

Trunk up to 3 dm. or more diam. at base; bark thick, in corky ridges; lvs very glossy, obovate in outline, very shallowly lobed to sinuate. Pappus-hairs longer, more distinctly barbellate.

DIST.: Type and only known locality: Great Id, Three Kings Is.

The large-lvd forms of North Auckland, Mayor and other coastal islands need further study.
