Xeronema callistemon var. bracteosa L.B.Moore

Var. bracteosa L. B. Moore in N.Z. J. Bot.  6,  1969,  490.

Type: CHR from plant cultivated in Whangarei, K. Pickmere, 11 Nov. 1943.

Floral bracts more leaf-like, green at least until anthesis, longer than pedicels.

Both vars grow on the Poor Knights Is.; in  var. callistemon the whole infl. becomes red while still very young whereas in  var. bracteosa red colour shows only when the fl.-buds begin to emerge from the longer green bracts.
