Small tufts with close-packed culms 2-10 cm. Leaf-sheath glabrous. Ligule 0.3-1 mm. Leaf-blade 2-5 cm, stiff, inrolled. Panicle 1.5-5 cm. Spikelets 4.5-6.5 mm. Glumes unequal, elliptic-ovate, acute to subacute; lower 3-4 mm, upper 4-4.5 mm. Lemma 4-4.5 mm, elliptic-ovate, subacute to acute; midnerve occasionally very slightly excurrent. Palea 3-4 mm. Anthers 0.3-0.4 mm. 2 n = 28.
