ξDiplachne fusca (L.) P.Beauv. ξThe single specimen is damaged, with culms broken from the basal tuft; overall height is estimated as c. 25 cm. Leaf-sheath scabrid on ribs near base. Ligule c. 3 mm, membranous, lacerate. Leaf-blade to c. 20 cm, convolute, greyish green, scabrid. Panicle 9-14 cm; rachis scabrid, racemes numerous, ascending, slender, bearing closely appressed spikelets. Spikelets 6-8 mm, c. 7-flowered, dark greenish grey, almost sessile to shortly pedicelled. Glumes unequal, 1-nerved, membranous, acute, keel scabrid; lower c. 1.5 mm, very narrow-lanceolate, upper c. 2 mm, ovate-oblong. Lemma c. 3 mm, 3-nerved, chartaceous, lateral nerves with long fine hairs in lower ½, apex minutely ciliate, notched, shortly mucronate from notch. Palea ≤ lemma and of same texture; keels finely scabrid. Stamens 3; anthers c. 0.4 mm. A palaeotropical species once collected from Thames C. W. Walker 12.2.1941 (CHR 25084).
