Dendranthema
ζ*Dendranthema (DC.) Des Moul. ζ*The origin of the autumn flowering chrysanthemum of horticulture is not known with certainty. Many cvs are probably derived from D. indicum (L.) Des Moul. and D. morifolium (Ramat.) Tzvelev, and some also have D. zawadskii (Herbich) Tzvelev in their parentage. It is known from 2 collections only in the vicinity of Auckland City but probably occurs elsewhere as a persistent discard. Rhizomatous perennial, usually woody at base; capitula usually at least semi-double; ligules white, yellow, orange, red to bluish purple or brown. Achenes not usually formed. (Cultivated hybrid, 1988).
