Author Biography

D. J. Galloway, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Otago), F.L.S., was a member of the staff of the Botany Division, Depart¬ment of Scientific and Industrial Research, at Lincoln, New Zealand, from December 1972 until March 1982. He has a close association with the Botany Department of the British Museum (Natural History) in London, working there on the present flora from 1973-1977 and for extended periods until November 1982, when he was appointed to a Senior Research Fellowship to study the taxonomy and biogeography of temperate Southern Hemisphere lichens, utilising the Museum's large collections. He serves on the Committee of the Society for the History of Natural History, and is a council member of the British Lichen Society. Dr Galloway is the author of numerous published papers on lichenology and historical botany.
