Austroblastenia Sipman

AUSTROBLASTENIA Sipman, 1983

As for Megalospora but differing in the following respects: Thallus without isidia or soredia, containing only zeorin and pannarin (KC-, Pd+ orange). Apothecial margins brown to black. Hymenium 120-250 µm tall. Ascospores 3-septate or muriform with thick, transverse septa.

Austroblastenia is an Australasian genus in the family Megalosporaceae and contains 2 species both of which are found in New Zealand [Sipman Biblthca lich. 18: 82-86 (1983)]. One species is endemic.
