Rinodina gallowayii
Holotype: New Zealand. South I., Otago, Lake Hayes NE of Queenstown, rocks near the shore, 20.ix.1981, H. Mayrhofer 2247 & A. Henssen – GZU. Isotype – Herb. Mayrhofer.
Description : Thallus epilithic, pale-grey to greyish brown, warted to areolate, prothallus blackish. Apothecia lecanorine, adnate to sessile, contiguous, to 0.8 mm diam.; disc plane to subconvex, black. Thalline margin concolorous with thallus, entire, persistent. Parathecium hyaline. Epithecium brown, K−. Hymenium 80–100 μm tall. Paraphyses 1.5 μm thick, apices capitate, to 6 μm diam. Hypothecium to 150 μm thick. Asci Lecanora -type. Ascospores Dirinaria -type, spore ontogeny type B, torus thin, 19–27 × 10–15 μm, wall finely warted. Pycnidia immersed. Conidia bacillar, 3–5 × 1 μm.
Chemistry : TLC−, all reactions negative.
S: Otago. Known only from the type locality.

Rinodina gallowayii is similar to R. oleae (q.v.), but has larger ascospores.
