N: S: Throughout, on introduced, deciduous trees, commonly in the Xanthorion community. With a widespread holarctic distribution in the Northern Hemisphere where it is common on eutrophic bark (especially on Acer, Fraxinus, Sambucus), also in Australia (Purvis et al. 1992; Nimis 1993; Santesson 1993; Esslinger & Egan 1995; Filson 1996; Lumbsch et al. 2001; Coppins 2002b; McCarthy 2003c, 2006; Nimis & Martellos 2003; Santesson et al. 2004; Van den Boom & Ryan 2004b).
