Lecania vallata

Lectotype: New Zealand. Wellington, J. Buchanan s.n. – BM [fide Galloway (1985a: 209)].

Description : Flora (1985: 209).

N: Auckland to Wellington. S: Otago (Woodhaugh Gardens Dunedin). Widely distributed on Melicytus ramiflorus.

Endemic

Lecania vallata is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the grey-white minutely granular, areolate upper surface; urceolate to sessile or innate apothecia, 1–4 per areole; disc minute (0.16 mm diam.), pale brownish or brown-black, with a pale whitish, entire thalline margin; and 1–3-septate, curved, fusiform ascospores.
