Luzula picta var. limosa Edgar
Type: CHR, 113700, Foot of Porters Pass, 2,250 ft, in seepage H. Nordenskiöld S 62 and H. E. Connor, 30/12/1957.
Plants invariably stoloniferous. Lvs reddish green. Flowering stems (4)–15–35–(80) cm. long. Infl. of several 3–25-fld clusters, peduncles 1–6 cm. long; subtending bracts us. much < infl. Tepals ovate-lanceolate, acute, bright chestnut brown with broad, white, membr. margins. Capsule ± = tepals, dark red-brown, often almost black towards the tip. 2n = 12.
DIST.: N. South of c. lat. 39º. S. Throughout.
Damp seepages to 1,200 m. altitude.

The thick rhizomes, red-green lvs, long flowering stems, and the stiff infl.-branches bearing the small clusters of fls are characteristic features of this var.
