Argopsis Th.Fr.

ARGOPSIS Th.Fr., 1858

Type : Argopsis megalospora Th.Fr.

Description : Flora (1985: 8–9).

Argopsis is a Southern Hemisphere genus of three species (Lamb 1974) restricted to the Auckland, Campbell and Crozet Is and to Kerguelen. The genus is included with some doubt in the family Brigantiaceae (Eriksson et al. 2004; Pennycook & Galloway 2004; Eriksson 2005). One species is known from the New Zealand Botanical Region, and occurs in the Auckland and Campbell Is, but is not known from Macquarie I. (Kantvilas & Seppelt 1992).
