Type locality: Ruahine Mts, based on the type of A. minima. Type: K, Andrews.

Abaxial lf-surface glab. between midrib and margins, even in young lf.

DIST.: N., Raukumara, Ruahine and Tararua Ranges, above c. 500 m. alt. S., wetter mountains from c. lat. 42º southwards. St.

On peat and other humus-rich soil.

FL. 11–2. FT. 12–3.

Cheeseman (Man. N.Z. Fl. 1925, 315) records A. linearis "from the East Cape and Ruapehu southwards", but no confirmation has been found for the Ruapehu record.
