Glyphis is a genus of c. 5 mainly tropical, corticolous species (Staiger & Kalb 2004b), included in the family Graphidaceae (Staiger 2002; Eriksson et al. 2004; Pennycook & Galloway 2004; Eriksson 2005). It is characterised by the radiate–stellate to irregular or flexuose apothecia embedded in a raised, prominent stroma-like tissue, and the colourless, transversely septate ascospores. One species is recorded from northern New Zealand. Glyphis neozelandica C.W. Dodge (Dodge 1971: 456) is referable to Porpidia macrocarpa (q.v.).
