Opegrapha spodopolia
Lectotype: New Zealand. South I., Otago, Shaw's Bay, mouth of Clutha River, on basalt, W. Lauder Lindsay – H-NYL 6107 [fide G. Hayward (1977: 580)].
Description : Flora (1985: 327).
Chemistry : TLC−, all reactions negative.
N: Northland (Three Kings Is, Bay of Islands, Hen I., Chickens Is). S: Marlborough (Long I.), Otago (Nugget Point, Catlins), Southland (Howell's Point Foveaux Strait). St: (Islet Cove Port Pegasus, Broad Bay). On coastal rocks with Pertusaria graphica and other coastal lichens. Still very poorly collected.

Opegrapha spodopolia is characterised by: the saxicolous habit; the thick, reticulately cracked thallus; the open base; and the 3–5(–6)-septate ascospores, 18–27 × 5– 6 μm.
