Lectotype: Lopadium allanii. New Zealand. Wellington, Kitchener Park, Feilding, on leaves of Alectryon excelsus, H.H. Allan s.n. – W [fide Santesson (1952: 535)].

Description : Flora (1985: 262 – as Lopadium puiggarii).

N: Auckland (Waitakere Ra.), Wellington (Totara Reserve Pohangina Valley, Kitchener Park Feilding). On leaves of Alectryon excelsus, Asplenium falcatum, Beilschmiedia tawa, Dacrycarpus dacrydioides, Metrosideros colensoi). A widepsread, pantropical taxon (Santesson 1952; Sérusiaux 1979b; Lücking 1992; Farkas & Sipman 1997; Lücking & Kalb 2001; McCarthy 2003c, 2006; Herrera-Campos et al. 2004; Mies & Schultz 2004).

Calopadia puiggarii is characterised by: the foliicolous habit; the grey-white or grey-green thallus with a very thin, white marginal prothallus; scattered greyish campylidia; dark-brown to brown-black apothecial discs; and a dark-brown hypothecium 10–20 μm tall.
