Allium cepa

ζA. cepa L.

ζA. cepa L. ζ, the onion, was first recorded as" more or less wild" by Thomson (Nat. Anim. Pl. N.Z. 1922, 278). It occurs as a casual garden outcast in both North and South Islands and has also been recorded as adventive on Campbell Id (Meurk N.Z. J. Bot. 13, 1975, 728).
