Description : Flora (1985: 416 – as Porina rhodinula).
S: Marlborough (Chalk Ra.). On limestone, still poorly collected and understood in New Zealand. Known also from temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere (Nimis 1993; van den Boom 1999; Diederich & Sérusiaux 2000; Hafellner & Türk 2001; Scholz 2000; Llimona & Hladun 2001).

Strigula affinis is characterised by: the saxicolous (limestone) habit; a black, well-developed involucrellum, 0.26–0.38 mm diam.; 1–3–5-septate ascospores, 15.5–26.5 × 4.5–8.5 μm; 3-septate macroconidia, 12–21 × 2.5–3.5 μm.
