Leaf-blade red to red-brown, margin scabrid, adaxially with prickle-teeth. Lemma to 5 mm. Anthers to 3.5 mm.
N.: Volcanic Plateau southwards; S.: Marlborough and North Canterbury. Tussock grassland and bogs; 550-1400 m.
