Scirpus subtilissimus (Boeckeler) S.T.Blake
Very fine-leaved tufts, (2) -4-7- (10) cm high. Stems filiform. Inflorescence of 1- (2) pale green spikelets. Stamen usually 1. Style-branches 3. Nut < 1 mm long, trigonous, cream.
N. Southwards from Volcanic Plateau and Hawkes Bay. S. Nelson; Westland; rare in Marlborough and Canterbury. Lowland to subalpine; damp ground. (Philippines, New Guinea, Australia)
