Pandorea jasminoides
ζ*P. jasminoides (Lindley) Schumann ζ*, bower vine, has spread over a small area of mixed indigenous forest in a reserve at Te Maraeroa, Little Barrier Id. Although it apparently does not flower and fruit at this site, attempts to eradicate it have been hindered by the free layering of stems. A vigorous liane vegetatively almost indistinguishable from P. pandorana and only identified after cultivation of the naturalised plant. Lvs petiolate, with 5-9 lanceolate to ovate or ± elliptic leaflets; lamina of terminal leaflet to 8 × 4 cm; infl. of 5- c. 15 fls; calyx c. 8 mm long; teeth very short; corolla c. 6 cm long, pale pink with crimson throat; limb about 6 cm across and almost patent; lobes 2.5-3 cm diam. The sp. is fairly commonly cultivated in warmer parts of N.Z. but rarely forms capsules. It has been previous recorded in error as Jasminum azoricum (Sykes 1981) and has been known in cultivation as Tecoma jasminoides. (N. N.S.W., S.E. Queensland, 1981).
