Prunus serotina

ζ*P. serotina Ehrh.

ζ*P. serotina Ehrh. ζ*, rum cherry, is recorded as a casual at Takahue, Kaitaia, N. Auckland (e.g., CHR 123053, Halliwell, 20.11.1956). A medium-sized, deciduous tree, not armed; lvs falling late; blade broad-elliptic to obovate, 50-80 × 30-45 mm, shortly acuminate at apex, flat and glossy deep green above, glabrous on both surfaces except for hairs along midrib beneath, finely serrate with teeth strongly curved inwards (appearing rounded); fls many, in open and ± pendent racemes 120-150 mm long; petals c. 4 mm long, ± = stamens; fr. small, globose, black. (N. America, 1988).
