Arthopyrenia peltigerella

A. peltigerella Zahlbr., Denkschr. Akad. Wiss. Wien math.-naturwiss. Kl. 104: 253 (1941).

Lectotype: New Zealand. Auckland, Rangitoto I. On bark of Avicennia marina ssp. resinifera, H.H. Allan ZA109 – CHR 373596 [fide Galloway (1985a: 16)].

Description : Flora (1985: 16).

N: Known only from the type collection.

Endemic

Arthopyrenia peltigerella is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the effuse (mainly endophloeodal) pale greyish or olivaceous, minutely maculate thallus; scattered, innate to sessile, glossy, black perithecia, 0.5–0.8 mm diam.; and oval to irregularly ovoid, (1–)2–3(–4)-septate ascospores, locules unequal, constricted at septum, 20–25–5 × 9–11 μm.
