Arthopyrenia leptiza

Verrucaria leptiza Stirt., Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 14: 472 (1875).

Lectotype: New Zealand. Near Wellington, on ? Cordyline bark, J. Buchanan (ex Herb. Stirton) – BM [fide Galloway (1985a: 15)]. Isolectotype – ?GLAM, WELT.

Description : Flora (1985: 15).

N: Known only from the type collection.

Endemic

Arthopyrenia leptiza is characterised by: the corticolous habit; dark greyish black indeterminate thallus; rather sparse, very minute (0.02 mm diam.), hemispherical black perithecia; and elongate-ellipsoidal, 1-septate ascospores, 12–15 × 5 μm.
