Endococcus rugulosus
Description : Lichenicolous. Perithecia dispersed, ±immersed, black, 0.1–0.2(–0.25) mm diam. Asci clavate, 40–55 × 14–20 μm. Ascospores broadly ellipsoidal with rounded or pointed apices, greyish brown to mid- to dark-brown, (12–)13–16(–16.5) × (5.5–) 6–7.5 (–8) μm.
S: Canterbury (Arthur's Pass). On Placopsis perrugosa. First collected in New Zealand by Hannes Hertel (Triebel 1989: 105). Widespread in temperate areas where it is known from Europe, Scandinavia, Spitzbergen, Greenland, North America, Asia, Colombia and Australasia (Triebel 1989; Alstrup and Hawksworth 1990; Triebel et al. 1991; Triebel & Scholz 2001; Etayo 2002; Alstrup 2004; Santesson et al. 2004).
Cosmopolitan
Hosts : Species of Acarospora, Amygdalaria, Aspicilia, Bacidia, Ionaspis, Lecanora, Placopsis, Protoparmelia badia, Rhizocarpon, Verrucaria (Triebel 1989; Alstrup & Hawksworth 1990).
