Degelia duplomarginata

Holotype: New Zealand. South Auckland. Rotoiti Bush, SE of Lake Rotoehu, 19.v.1927, G. Einar & Greta Du Rietz 3117 – S. Isotypes – BM, MB.

Description : Flora (1985: 151).

Chemistry : TLC−, all reactions negative.

N: Northland (Waima Forest), Auckland (Rangitoto I.), South Auckland (Red Mercury I., Pio Pio, Waiotapu Valley, Lake Rotoiti), Taranaki (Mt Taranaki), Wellington (Snake Valley near Turangi, Ruapehu, Kaimanawa Ra., Tararua Ra.). S: Nelson (Mt Arthur), Westland (Kelly's Creek), to Fiordland (Lake Katherine, George Sound, Cascade Cove Dusky Sound, Coal River), mainly in western coastal, to mountainous areas E of the Main Divide. St: (Noble I. Port Pegasus). A: (Port Ross, Laurie Harbour). On bark and twigs of trees and shrubs in moist humid habitats, especially in successional or disturbed sites, rarely on rock, s.l. to 700 m. Rare in wet forests in Tasmania (Jørgensen & Galloway 1992b: 249; McCarthy 2003c, 2006). Known also in Hawai'i and southern South America (Arvidsson & Galloway 1981: 41; Jørgensen & James 1990: 269).

Degelia duplomarginata is characterised by: the numerous apothecia with crenulate margins (often lacking in very young fruits); and the transverse, concentrically ridged, nonisidiate lobes.
