Anisomeridium subatomarium

Isotype: New Zealand. Sine loco [probably Wellington], Charles Knight 14 – H-NYL 884 [fide Harris (1995: 150)].

Description : Thallus obscure or lacking. Perithecia minute, 0.2 mm diam., immersed in substratum, ostiole minute. Exciple brown-black. Hymenium pale brownish. Asci 8-spored. Ascospores ovoid, 1-septate, septum markedly submedian, 12–17 × 6–8 μm. Microconidia 2 μm.

N: Known only from the type collection.

Endemic

Anisomeridium subatomarium is characterised by: the corticolous habit; minute (0.2 mm diam.), immersed perithecia, scattered on a thin or absent thallus; 8-spored asci; and ovoid, 1-septate ascospores with a markedly submedian septum, 12–17 × 6–8 μm.
