Description : Flora (1985: 6).

N: ? Wellington. Known only from the type collections.

Endemic

Illustrations : Knight (1860: pl. XI, fig. 5 – as Verrucaria magnospora); Nylander (1888: Tab. 1, fig. 5 – as Verrucaria magnifica).

Anisomeridium magnosporum is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the grey-white, effuse thallus delimited by a thin, black prothallus; scattered, black perithecia, 0.1–1.1 mm diam.; and biseriate, large, 1-septate, equal-celled ascospores constricted at septum, 40–56 × 17–22 μm.
