Heterodermia appendiculata

Description : Flora (1985: 183–184).

Chemistry : Atranorin, zeorin, and norstictic acid.

N: Northland (Kaitaia, Helena Bay). On Cordyline. Known also from West Africa, Brazil, Australia (Aptroot 2002e; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Pantropical

Illustrations : Kurokawa (1962: pl. 7, fig. 39 – as Anaptychia appendiculata).

Heterodermia appendiculata is characterised by: the corticolous habit; marginal phyllidia; a non-corticate lower surface; and norstictic acid (K+ yellow→red) in the medulla.
