Galium humifusum

ζ*G. humifusum Bieb.

ζ*G. humifusum Bieb. ζ* was collected in a cricket field at Cromwell, C. Otago, in 1947, but has not been collected or reported since. It is perennial and belongs to sect. Galium as does G. verum, but is immediately recognisable by the funnelform corolla. As with the indigenous G. perpusilla, this character means that G. humifusum has been put into Asperula L. in the past. (S.E. Europe, including S. Russia, S.W. Asia, 1988).
