Calicium robustellum

C. robustellum Nyl., Annls Sci. nat. Bot. sér. 4, 15: 39 (1861).

Description : Flora (1985: 58). See also Tibell (1987: 38).

Chemistry : Thallus K+ dull yellow, C+ orange, KC+ orange-red, Pd−, UV+ dark-orange; containing arthothelin, thuringione and thiophanic acid (Tibell 1987).

N: Northland (Waiwera Scenic Reserve). On lignum (totara fencepost). Known also from Australia (Tibell 1987; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Calicium robustellum is characterised by: its short-stalked, and very stout apothecia; the yellowish, C+ orange thallus; and the large spores provided with an ornamentation of small warts.
