Abutilon megapotamicum

ζ*A. megapotamicum (Sprengel) A. St. Hil. et Naudin ζ* × A. pictum (Hook. et Arn.) Walp. has been collected as naturalised only once, spreading into waste land from a cultivated plant in Opotiki Cemetery. A perennial, woody shrub; stems with scattered, short, stellate hairs and a few short simple hairs, soon glabrous; lvs not lobed, ovate-lanceolate, crenate; fls axillary, solitary or paired; calyx teeth much < tube; petals yellow with red veins, 30-45 mm long; cells of fr. awnless. This hybrid is cultivated under the name A. milleri. (Cultivated hybrid, 1985).
