Epacris pauciflora var. sinclairii (Hook.f.) Cheeseman

Var. sinclairii (Hook. f). Cheesem. Man. N.Z. Fl. 1906, 415.

E. Sinclairii Hook. f. Handbk N.Z. Fl 1864, 179.

Plant up to c. 3 dm. tall; lvs 4-7 mm. long narrow lanceolate-oblong to oblong, obtuse.

DIST.: Great Barrier Id; upper Kauaeranga Valley, Thames.

Hooker (loc. cit.) says: "Numerous fine specimens of this are in Sinclair's Herbarium, but without ticket; it resembles E. pauciflora, but is a much less twiggy and more branched plant, with narrower, less concave not acuminate leaves." Cheeseman (loc. cit.) remarks: "E. Sinclairii differs from E. pauciflora in no respect except that the leaves are not narrowed into short acuminate points." He gives Great Barrier Id as the source of Sinclair's specimens. Further study in the field is desirable.
