Pyrenula cyrtospora

Lectotype: New Zealand. Wellington, Tinakori Hills, J. Buchanan – BM [fide Galloway (1985a: 489)].

Description : Flora (1985: 489).

N: Auckland to Wellington. Widespread on bark of shrubs in open forest.

Endemic

Pyrenula cyrtospora is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the ochraceous, waxy, continuous to irregularly cracked thallus in bands or patches, 1–2(–4) cm wide; emergent, rounded to irregular perithecia, solitary or 2–4-confluent, with black ostioles; and ovoid to broadly ellipsoidal, 3-septate ascospores (15–)17–20.5 × 6–5–8 μm.
