Senecio crassiflorus

ζ*S. crassiflorus (Poiret) DC.

ζ*S. crassiflorus (Poiret) DC. ζ* has been collected only twice, as a garden escape establishing in patches in waste land, near the mouth of the Hutt R., in 1943, and recently from dunes at Gore Bay (N. Canterbury). A prostrate, herbaceous perennial, becoming somewhat woody toward base; lvs densely white-lanate on both surfaces, obtriangular, ± entire or obscurely serrate but dentate or 3-fid at apex, apetiolate and long-cuneate; capitula 1-4 in loose corymbs; ligules yellow, c. 20 mm long. (Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, 1988).
