Sporangia stalked, us. without paraphyses; annulus incomplete, vertical; spores tetrahedral, ± globose, smooth to spinulose. Rhizome paleate, solenostelic, creeping or abbreviated. Frond pinnate to variously compound; veins free. A subcosmopolitan genus of some 80 spp.
