Cosmopolitan

X. tinctina is a very constant species which is rather rare in New Zealand. It is similar to both X. australasica and X. conspersa but is distinguished from the former by the morphology of the isidia, and from the latter by the morphology of the isidia and by medullary chemistry. Isidia in X. tinctina are small, globose structures never becoming coralloid-branched, and scattered ± evenly over the upper surface.
