Tagetes tenuifolia

ζ*T. tenuifolia Cav.

ζ*T. tenuifolia Cav. ζ*, petite marigold, has been collected wild only once, as a weed in a gutter, Christchurch. An annual similar to T. patula but generally smaller and finer; leaflets 2-4 mm long; capitula 15-18 mm diam.; involucre 10-12 × c. 3 mm; ray florets 5; ligules yellow-orange with orange blotch toward base, 6-9 mm long. In cultivation ligules may also be yellow to deep orange or with reddish brown markings; the name T. " pumila" is often applied to cultivated plants. (Mexico, C. America, 1988).
