Nymphoides peltata
ζ*N. peltata (S. Gmelin) Kuntze ζ*, fringed water lily, has been collected recently in a pond on the Whangaparoa Peninsula, N. Auckland, where it was growing at some distance from the place where it had been planted. Elsewhere, it is an occasionally cultivated aquatic in garden pools. A perennial herb with adventitious roots and floating lvs on long petioles. Lamina to 7 cm diam., suborbicular, very shallowly and sinuately toothed, with deep basal sinus. Calyx c. 11 mm long. Corolla c. 4.5 cm diam., golden; wings of lobes c. 5 mm broad with very short fimbriae. Capsules to 2.5 cm long, flattened. Seed flat with densely fimbriate margin. (Temperate Eurasia, 1988).
