Arthonia peraffinis

A. peraffinis Nyl., Annls Sci. nat. Bot. sér. 4, 15: 51 (1861).

Description : Flora (1985: 12).

N: Auckland (Domain),Wellington (Kapiti I., Wellington sine loco). On kauri twigs and on rough bark, Charles Knight (BM), J. Buchanan (BM). Known also from Norfolk Island and Australia (Elix & McCarthy 1998; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Arthonia peraffinis is characterised by: the corticolous habit; greyish green or olivaceous to blotchy white, smooth, matt thallus; sessile to subinnate, black, rounded to subangular apothecia, 0.5–1.5 mm diam.; and colourless, ovoid-obovate, 5-septate ascospores, 24–32 × 9–12 μm.
