Type locality: uncertain. Type: K, No. 1813, New Zealand, Colenso.
Herb up to c. 5 cm. tall; stock slender; lvs several to many, radical; lamina c. 3 mm.-1 cm. long, ovate to suborbicular, veins not mucronate-tipped; petioles slender, ± flattened, up to 4 cm. long. Fls solitary on slender peduncles c. 4 cm. long, occ. in 2- to 4-fld racemes. Sepals c. 2 mm. long, ovate-oblong, margins hyaline; petals white, ovate-oblong, up to 7 mm. long, including claw c. 2 mm. long. Siliques linear, up to 2 cm. long; seeds < 1 mm. long.
DIST.: N., S., St. Coastal, lowland and montane boggy ground.
The specimens chosen as the type are ± 3 cm. tall; lvs reduced to simple lflt, lamina ± 5 × 4 mm.; fls solitary, ± 2 mm. diam. on scapes ± 1·25 cm. long. Hooker, loc. cit., considered this "rather a reduced state than a distinct race"; Schulz, loc. cit., classed it as a forma abortiva of C. debilis. It comes true from seed and may hybridize with debilis.
