Var. sericeinitens (Bitter) Allan comb. nov. 

A. sanguisorbae Vahl subsp. profundeincisa var. sericeinitens Bitter in Bibl. bot., Stuttgart 74, 1911. 271.

Type locality: Kelly's Hill, Westland, c. 1000 m. Type: "L. Cockayne no. 46, herb. Turic."

Differs in the dense covering of silky hairs on the upper as well as the lower surface of the lflts.

DIST.: S. Lowland and montane tussock-grassland and open places, especially in southern half of island.
