Description : Lichenicolous. Apothecia scattered on thallus and apothecia of host, minute, black. Ascospores hyaline, 3-septate, 15–16.5 × 5–7 μm.
N: S: Known also from Great Britain, Scandinavia Europe and North America (Hawksworth 1985; Triebel et al. 1991; Santesson 1993; Esslinger & Egan 1995; Scholz 2000).
Cosmopolitan
Host : Vegetative thalli and apothecia of Lecanora carpinea.
* Arthonia subfuscicola is characterised by: the lichenicolous habit (Lecanora carpinea as host); minute black, apothecia; and colourless 3-septate ascospores, 15–16.5 × 5–7 μm.This species is discussed further by Hawksworth (1985a: 167) and Triebel et al. (1991: 268).
