Arthonia conspicua

Lectotype: New Zealand. Sine loco, on dead Phormium tenax, W. Colenso – BM [fide Galloway (1985a: 11)].

Description : Flora (1985: 11).

N: Known only from the type collection.

Arthonia conspicua is characterised by: the corticolous habit; pale greenish grey or whitish, blotchy, indeterminate thallus; scattered, irregularly rounded, dark red-brown to black apothecia, 0.2–1 mm diam.; 6-spored asci; and ovoid, 1-septate ascospores, 29–33 × 12–15 μm.
