Arthonia phymatodes

Holotype: New Zealand. Sine loco [probably Wellington], Charles Knight – WELT (Herb. Knight, Vol. 63a, p. 12.

Description : Flora (1985: 13).

N: Known only from the type collection.

Endemic

Arthonia phymatodes is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the greyish green, subtubercular thallus; minute (0.3 mm diam.) greyish brown apothecia; 4-septate ascospores, 15–20 × 6–8 μm, slightly constricted at septa, the upper cell largest, the contents oily-vacuolate.
