Gnaphalium uliginosum
ζ*G. uliginosum L. ζ*, marsh cudweed, is known from only one site, established locally on wet roadsides E. of Hokitika. Annual 5-20 cm tall, much-branched from base; lvs ± concolorous, grey- or white-tomentose, linear to narrow-oblong, 1-3 cm long; upper cauline lvs mostly folded; capitula in dense clusters subtended by several lvs; bracts 2-2.5 mm long. This sp. is distinguished from all the naturalised sp. of sect. Gamochaeta by the pappus hairs being free at the base and falling singly rather than united and falling as a unit.
