Epilobium pubens var. astonii Allan

Var. astonii Allan var. nov. 

Type locality: Mount Hikurangi. Type: BD 76191, A. P. Druce, 6/7/54.

Lvs obovate to elliptic; fls ± 15-20 mm. diam.; calyx 5-7 mm. long, lobes ovate; petals obcordate, up to 14 mm. long, rose fading to white, or white; peduncles seldom > ± 5 mm. long.

DIST.: N. Montane to subalpine greywacke cliffs: Raukumara Range, Mount Hikurangi, Mount Arowhana, A. P. Druce; South Kaimanawa Range, B. C. Aston, A. P. Druce; North Ruahine Range, A. P. Druce.
