Phyllanthus amarus
ζ*Phyllanthus amarus Schum. ζ* has been collected only once, from arable land, Silverdale, N. Auckland, in 1959. A glabrous, erect, annual herb; lvs simple, entire, alternate, subsessile, elliptic-oblong, 3-10 mm long; fls axillary, arranged along leafy branches which look like pinnate lvs, in clusters of usually 1 ♀ and 2 ♂; seeds 3-angled, c. 1 mm long, rounded with longitudinal lines on the back. The sp. has been previously recorded in N.Z. as P. niruri. (Widespread tropical weed possibly endemic to C. America, 1959).
