Trifolium squamosum

ζ*T. squamosum L.

ζ*T. squamosum L. ζ*, sea clover, has been collected as naturalised in Auckland City only, but has not been seen since 1937. A hairy annual. Lvs narrowly obovate to oblong, acute, 10-20 mm long. Infls terminal, spicate, ovoid, shortly pedunculate. Fls numerous; calyx glabrous or sparsely hairy, 10-veined; calyx teeth unequal (lower longest), triangular, < corolla. Corolla pink, deciduous, 5-9 mm long. Sea clover has been previously known in N.Z. as T. maritimum. (W. and S. Europe to W. Asia, N. Africa, 1880).
